I'm in the process of adding a boy (at last!) to my assortment of dolls :3 Sadly he has no hands or face yet- its harder to sculpt 0.5cm male hands than female ones T_____T
Building jointed character dolls is pretty easy to do and really satisfying! Can't wait to get some molds made up for casting!
It's really easy to get started making bjds- you can build a chassis for under a fiver using straws and DAS Paperclay (selling in The Works for £3.99), and then elaborate it with (Primark) eyelashes and a faceup of drybrushed acrylic or chalk pastel. The eyes are hardest to turn up but if you raid nearby charity shops you can use eyes from porcelain dolls- usually about £2- or beads, or DIY fimo and resin.
